UX research and usability testing for mission-driven organizations

Usability testing shows you where real people get stuck, so you fix the problems that matter instead of the ones that get argued about in meetings.

We’ve run research with teachers, students, school leaders, policymakers and program staff, and we turn what we learn into designs your team can build.

What we do

  • Usability testing: participants complete real tasks while we observe, in person or remotely
  • UX audits: an expert review of your site or product against usability and accessibility heuristics
  • User interviews and contextual research to understand needs before you build
  • Prototyping and testing new designs before development starts
  • Research with specialist audiences, including teachers and children

What you get

  • Findings ranked by how badly they block users
  • Video clips or quotes that show each problem
  • Recommended design changes, and prototypes where they help

Research and design together

We don’t hand over a report and leave. The same team that runs the research designs the fixes, and can build them too.

Frequently asked questions

How many participants do we need?

For finding usability problems, around five participants per round of testing usually surfaces most of the major issues. It’s better to test small and often than to run one large study.

Who recruits participants?

Often you do, because you know your audience best, and we provide screening criteria and scheduling support.

What is a UX audit?

An expert review of your site or product against established usability and accessibility principles. It’s faster than testing and a good first step, but it doesn’t replace watching real users.

Ready to discuss your next project?

We'll schedule a 30-minute discovery call to understand your goals, assess fit, and outline next steps — no pressure, no pitch deck.
