CoreTools — Lesson Authoring Platform

About this project

CoreTools is the Literacy Design Collaborative's flagship platform — a lesson authoring environment where teachers adapt standards-aligned templates to create high-quality assignments. Think of it as Google Docs meets curriculum design: teachers start with proven frameworks and customize them for their classrooms, with built-in collaboration, sharing, and peer review. As part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's work on improving instruction, we built and maintained CoreTools as LDC's primary technology partner. The platform includes advanced search, lesson sharing, collaborative editing, and a jurying system that helps surface the best teacher-created content. We also worked on analytics, eLearning initiatives, and provided ongoing business insight. As their Principal Software Developer described it: "Mobility Labs is our handyman of the web, our internet general contractor." That kind of trust comes from years of showing up, understanding the mission, and delivering work that matters.
